來自芬蘭的HIM（His Infernal Majesty），由陰柔美型男主唱Ville Hermani Valo於1995年夏天跟幾位音樂上志同道合的好友所組織起，經歷數次的團員變動後，最終定案的陣容為貝斯手Mige Amour、吉他手Linde Lazer、鼓手Gas Lipstick以及鍵盤手Zoltan Pluto。HIM以首張專輯“Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666＂在芬蘭本地打響知名度，後繼再以“Razorblade Romance”、“Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights＂、“Love Metal＂三張皆奪得芬蘭專輯榜冠軍、以及得到白金認證的專輯熱賣成績，證明了HIM的實力，並且定義了“情愛金屬＂的獨特曲風，成為芬蘭最炙手可熱的樂團。2005年，關鍵性的“Dark Light＂專輯，使HIM正式成功進軍美國市場，空降全美專輯榜#18，此外HIM也是有史以來第一個在美國銷售超越50萬張的芬蘭樂團。2007年的“Venus Doom＂專輯，也再度刷新芬蘭樂團在美銷售的新記錄，上市僅一週便狂銷3萬8千餘張，空降全美專輯榜#12。

HIM睽違3年的第七張錄音室大碟“Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice＂終於在2010年推出，令人意外的是，這次不再由合作多年的Hiili Hiilesmaa、Tim Palmer製作，而是請到來自美國的新生代製作人Matt Squire（Panic At The Disco、The Used）擔任專輯製作大任，Matt Squire雖特別活躍於流行龐克音樂的製作領域，但也曾擔任英國金屬樂團Skindred、硬蕊龐克團Saosin的專輯製作，此舉也可以見得HIM欲藉由新作擴展版圖至更一般普羅大眾音樂市場的企圖心。排行賣相極佳的首支單曲「Heartkiller」，前段以鍵盤與吉他齊步砸下悅耳旋律，中段亦給予樂迷一段精彩吉他狂飆solo的定心劑，鬼魅般神祕唯美的歌詞傳遞著為愛願奉獻生命的愛意。不同於一般給人壓迫吵雜的金屬樂印象，HIM開拓的情愛金屬派，不但沒有缺少金屬樂標榜的吉他riffs與宏偉的歌曲架構，更為金屬樂添了份濃厚的浪漫酵素，而擁有彷彿是吸血鬼般俊美外貌與一副性感邪惡嗓音的主唱Valo，又以絕佳的創作才華，將愛情具體幻化為美麗詞句、如史詩般的澎湃樂曲氣勢，並再次迷惑了對愛情毫無抗體的HIM死忠信徒。■2010.02■
